Senate Resolution No. 18

Congratulating the 1993 recipients of the West Virginia University Scholars Program.

Whereas, Erin Thomas Baker of Moorefield High School, Kelly Sue Casto of East Fairmont High School, Nathaniel Paul Francis of Pineville High School, Lauren Brooke Johnson of Sissonville High School and Trisha Lynne Kalbaugh of Keyser High School have distinguished themselves throughout their high school careers; and
Whereas, The West Virginia Scholars Program recognizes the academic excellence of more than five hundred freshmen annually, awarding a total of more than two million dollars to the best high school students from across the state of West Virginia and the United States; and
Whereas, These five outstanding West Virginia students have been awarded Foundation scholarships, the highest academic award at West Virginia University, which will pay full tuition, room and board, fees and textbooks throughout their career at West Virginia University; and
Whereas, These students join an elite group of thirty-three West Virginia residents as recipients of this major award;therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby congratulates Erin Thomas Baker, Kelly Sue Casto, Nathaniel Paul Francis, Lauren Brooke Johnson and Trisha Lynne Kalbaugh for their selection and acceptance in the West Virginia University Scholars Program, thereby emphasizing their ideals of academic excellence; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Erin Thomas Baker, Kelly Sue Casto, Nathaniel Paul Francis, Lauren Brooke Johnson and Trisha Lynne Kalbaugh and the president of West Virginia University.
